    Dear Friends;

    I have a Laptop "Hp 6910p" at home. It was working fine but now a problem appeared that its battery provides zero back up. When Laptop is plugged in, system works perfectly but when cursor moves at battery icon, there is written "44% available, (plugged in, not chargingâ€. So as a result, if I unplug the adapter, system shutdowns immediately. Please help me how to fix this problem.

    How old is the battery?

    Try removing the battery and then reset it...

    Did you try the HP battery diagnostic tool. Upon startup/restart on the HP splash screen press the esc key. A list should come up highlight Diagnostics press enter then run the battery test.

    Most likely your battery need to be replaced. 5-6 years is about it for most laptop batteries.

    Hello;
    I tried but there is no "battery test" option available at startup.

    Arie
    I do agree with you but first need to be confirmed.

    Since that's a HP laptop, give this a shot: Power the laptop all the way off and wait 15 seconds or so. Turn the computer back on and start tapping the [F10] key until the CMOS/BIOS Computer Setup screen comes up. Using the arrow keys to highlight your choices and [Enter] to confirm, select "Tools" > "Battery Information" > "System Battery ". You should see a screen similar to the attachment below.

    What are the values for each one of the 16 variables for your battery?

    As we suggested, the battery is done!

    Battery wear level: 100%

    I don't know, I'm seeing that same "Battery Wear Level" of "100%" here on a couple of different laptops with good batteries. And, in the Columns Descriptions quote above it says "The wear level of a new battery should be around 100%, and it gradually decreases. This value is calculated according to the 'Designed Capacity' and 'Full Charged Capacity' values. "

    That "Charge/Discharge Rate" of "0 milliwatts" can't be right though. It should be either charging (positive number) or discharging (negative number).

    Signode, with both the battery and charger hooked up to the laptop, re-run BatteryInfoView and leave it sit for a couple of minutes ... or three. That "0 milliwatts" should change. Let us know if it does, and what it changes to please ...

    That test is not the greatest thing in the world. Ain't nothing like a meter. Kind of hard to do with a laptop.

    The battery has had it. Time for a new one.
