    Ok, so I'm stupid.

I started a backup of my system to DVDs but somewhere in the process it told me to put in a new dvd marked disk 3 yet I was getting ready to insert disk 4:confused:

So I want to start all over but it won't let me. I'm frustrated so I am not thinking clearly.

Please point me in the right direction.

I'm assuming you solved this by now?

Anyway, I would use task manager to 'kill' the backup process. Not sure what it is called, maybe NTBackup

I didn't think about that but I couldn't find that process (or any similar) running. I have automatic backup turned off. I get a notification now and again that the backup was stopped.

Lets try this: In the Task Scheduler Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in, expand Task Scheduler Library, expand Microsoft, expand Windows, and then click WindowsBackup. Click the scheduled task, and then click Disable in the Actions pane.

You can get to the MMC by typing taskschd.msc in the Start Search box, and then pressing [Enter].

Thanks Arie!!! A little modification though......There were three tasks under WindowsBackup but all were disabled:confused: but one was "running" so I just deleted the task; I still got the same notification - I deleted all the tasks and voila I back to the beginning :D

It's the little things one never thinks about.

I hate to think how I am going to fare when I upgrade to Windows 7

    Thanks again

    Mitch
