IBM OS/2 and Apple Macintosh are different operating systems, Windows might not be able to read their formatting. Not only can't it read the formatting, I don't think it can see it as a "drive ", that's why it says HDD error. I think the HDD error refers to not be able to read the drive (special formatting) information on the floppy disk.

If the disks were made using OS/2 or Mactintosh, the data will probably be useless in Windows.

If the disks have special formatting (like XDF), don't blame the floppy disk drive for not being able to read it. You seem to have been able to backup standard formatted floppy disks.

If the disks were made (formatted) say, on an Apple MAC, find an Apple computer and try to read/copy them on that. If you know the format IS XDF, try looking for an XDF reader program. That information says PCDOS 7 and onwards, that is IBM DOS (OS/2?). I can't see that it is supported by Windows (MSDOS).

    A maybe, try FreeDOS

    Thanks Matt.
DO you know it, my FDD Device goto repair center.
First 5 times can imm. return new FDD device to me. after must CHECK that device. wait more 1 weeks to repiar some parts.
I goto repiar center 6 times. only 5 days!~ Tech said is HEAD error!?

(Q1) I doing what... can doing HEAD error ? Is many READ and READ ?

    Now only wait...

SO, First I think is not simple doing COPY file(s).

If can doing COPY DISK IMAGE, more BEST. Ignore which FORMAT (MS/OS2/MAC), just mirror copy only!
I found HDD Solution: said Damage HDD can mirror copy to NEW hard drive, and try recovey/get files .
But that cost is very expensive...
If this tech can changed to "Floppy Disk. and CDR" is very best!

(Q2) DO you found some (FDD/CDR) solution ?

Also. OS/2 system, maybe use FreeDOS. I will try. But can run on year 2009 that P4 PC ?
And, found Apple MAC (Version 7) is very difficulty. IS NOT Possible!
now that MAC computer can compatible XP/W7!

(Q3) Is something software can check begin, this DISK which format "MS/MAC/OS2" ?
Because I can't found Disk Label printer format string?

    Any idea Please!

Q1 I think you are saying that the new Floppy Disk Drive has been returned to the place where you purchased it, because it has trouble reading the disks, "HEAD error ". Can you make your own floppy disks with files on them? If you can, there is probably nothing wrong with the FDD.

(Apparently, you are trying to read disks that are formatted in a special way. Windows probably won't read "special formatting" of disks made in OS/2 or MAC. GENERALLY, Windows only reads things made with Windows.)

You probably need something that will read the special formatting of the disks. Find out what the formatting of the disk is. Is it XDF or some other sort of IBM/OS2 formatting? Is it formatted using MAC? You need to find out the history of the disks.

You can try doing a "raw copy" of the disks, but how are you going to read them?? If only OS/2 or MAC can read them you will need to find one of those systems to do it.

Q2 FDD/CDR solution? (I'm not sure what you mean) that will probably be the operating system that you boot to. Old computers could have 2 floppy disk drives, they were Drive A: and Drive B:. You booted to one FDD, which ran the operating system (DOS), the other drive was where you could run data disks.

If you want to swap from booting to floppy disks to booting to CD-R (Compact Disks) you will need to find the way of making the CD-R's bootable. That is a whole different matter. You need to research it yourself.

Q3 "Is something software can check begin, this DISK which format "MS/MAC/OS2" Not that I know of. You begin by knowing what the format is, then you look for a reader for that format. If you just get a message like "Bad Harddisk ". YOU need to find a suitable reader. We don't know. Ask your boss how they were formatted or what operating system he/she used to access them.

It is hard to read your English emia. Can anyone help you with making these posts?

    Matt
