Avidemux - save video problem

I captured a vhs tape in avi, managed to sync ok(I think) then file/save/save video(video-copy) & (audio-copy) only part of the video was saved plus 17 files that Windows didn't recognise & equal in size to the main file.
I tried to to save in dvd(lac) & dvd(mpeg2enc) but threw up warning that it was wrong format, think I’m missing some basics
Can anyone help - many thanks
PS: am computer literate, but new to video editing etc!

 

I don't know if this will be of any help. I've never used Avidemux. I googled your problem and came up with these two site that might be helpful. There does seem to be a file size limit.

Many thanks for your efforts, actually got the answer from the Avidemux Moderator who told me to check box 'Create OpenDML files' it did the trick! there is a limit which is disabled when the box is checked - I found your two sites most interesting all the same, also Goggled 'Create Open DML files' very interesting too!
