    I don't know if you're confident enough to use 'about:config' but here it is.
    Create or modify this value:
    Value name: browser.tabs.opentabfor.urlbar_always
    Value type (in case you are creating): boolean
    Value: true (toggle it if it is false)

    See Firefox Tip and Tricks. Your answer might be there.
    Concerning "browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs ", look for it in 'about:config' and set it to 'true'.
