I have installed Windows XP SP3 few months ago, and it has been working nicely till the last few days.

Basically, after like 2-3 hours my sound just vanishes

I know it sounds stupid, but yeah, while I try to listen to music/watch youtube or similar, there's no sound. I've tried checking if it's because it's muted, but when I try to run Volume control it says I don't have mixer installed (I'll quote the whole message a bit later once audio goes away).

Simply rebooting the computer fixes the problem but that is 1) annoying and 2) I'm afraid my computer might have something, which it probably does.

Er... Here is what audio device I have (if other system details are needed please specify).

    General Information
Device Name : Realtek AC97 Audio
    Manufacturer : Microsoft
    Version : 5.10
    Product ID : 101 / 1

    Specific Wave Information
Maximum Standard Sampling Bits : 16-bit
Maximum Standard Sampling Rate : 96kHz
    Channels : 65535

OK, doing it now. I'll post if the problem will continue or not.
