audio driver error when install windows XP

    Read in the manual about (re)installing the OS. There may possibly be a recovery installation (hidden drive) on the HDD.

    Check how much HP would charge for a replacement DVD. One small bonus may be if you use theirs you may not need to do Activation. Their system may have a method of making a set of "recovery disks" which you could make after you have the system set up, updated and running nicely.

    I have not heard that there would be a problem if you borrowed a friend's disk (you have you're own licence, product key, etc).
