I voted for AVG Anti-Virus. Years ago I started using the free version. Now for the last couple of years I am using the full AVG suite.

AVG Internet Security 3-Pack Edition 8.0 (paid version)

I switched from AVG 8 free to Avast. May try Avira.

I use ESET Smart Security--best tech support I've seen. When I had a problem they gave me the answer very quickly and then again in about 4 days they e-mailed me back saying they haven't heard from me and asked me if my problem was fixed. Also the fact that you are talking to people working in America.

    I use ..... anti-virus

Although I use primarily ZoneAlarm Security Suite, I do have other AVs installed (but not active) to use as a "second opinion" scan. This is especially (for me) needed to check my computer just in case ZoneAlarm does not detect anything. I use ... Malwarebytes, Comodo BoClean (active), MS Windows Defender, Lavasoft AdAware 08 Pro, Spybot S&D, AVG AV (paid version), Spysweeper, Trojan Hunter, and soon to be added Avast Home. This is mostly "over-kill" but, for me, this is what I want. I did have NOD32, Kaspersky (both AV and Suite), BitDefender but just didn't care for them. NOD32 and Kaspersky are supposed to be the top two applications.

i USE mCaFEE CAUSE ITS FREE FOR COMCAST USERS.
When elsewhere that the user does not get a free program with his ISP I always use AVG as I believe it is the easiest to use. I occasionally need something to run in the Win 98/ME ienvironment - any suggestions?

I used this same setup for awhile, also, on 1 rig. I never had any problems with viruses, but I did have issues with it blocking programs and "known good" software. In many cases, there was no way to make it behave. So now I am using Avira Anti Vir and Super AntiSpyware.

    Am Using Norton antivirus 2008.
Warning Caution- today when I started up PC Symantec told me I could download and use Norton 2009 for the rest of my subscription. Did so (like a dope) and the install froze my system. Had to eventually reboot in safe mode and unistall 2009 version and reinstall 2008 version.

    WIN XP SP2

I also use Avira. However I have used norton in the past and also had problems with it not detecting problems when my freeware did find items of concern.

I also use Spybot S&D for which I am very satisfied as well.

I have Kaspersky, although I am not very knowledgeable in the computer so it is only ran with the help of those who actually know what they are doing.

I haven't finished reading all the posts and I'm already seeing a trend here. Freebies work just fine for protecting the pc. Amazing. I kept reading how you really shouldn't used them as they can't really protect that well. I guess you can't believe everything you read. Or can you? lol.

I have CA on my home pc and when I bought the laptop, Kaspersky was on sale and the sales person recommended it. It's on here now and we'll see how well it does. According to this post it should do just fine. I may even put it on my home pc when CA expires. Or Avast, even.

    love this forum!

    :)

    +1 For AVG antivirus..
I use AVG antivirus free edition..but AVG has a lot of advantages:
    1. easy to use
    2. Can uninstall and not change a system.
    3. update daily when we connected to internet
    4. Free :)

so i love AVG antivirus, before AVG i use McAfee and NOD32
