Hi All i have been using AVG for about 6 or 7 months now and McAfee for years before this. I can only say good things for AVG as since i have had it on my system i haven't had 1 bit of malware, virus or thread since installing it, where i was often finding virus's etc with McAfee.

I ditched CA a few years ago because of bad support. I now use Avira Premium.

I don't see any mention of Ashampoo Antivirus or AntiSpyware.
These programs are the only ones to find and remove a trojan on my PC. Sold me!

I started out using Norton about six years ago but when I found out about AVG I switched to it and thought it was a pretty good antivirus and still do but after finding out about Avast I switched to it and have been using it for about four years now. I also have several friends that asked me to set their computers up with an antivirus and I always use Avast.

    Avast sound great, but

I have been satisfied with McAfee and I am loathe to get into a program that requires tweaking. Since this is a Vista threat, will any of the free antivirus programs speed anything up, improve anything, etc. I get McAfee Security Suite with my broadband through Comcast. Since many of the inhabitants here use other programs, I'm sincerely interested, providing there are benefits. Thanks!:)

    Interesting results.
The majority of the staff uses Avast.

    Questions About Avast

Well, I'm becoming very interested in Avast as a result. Question #1. Does it slow the pc down in any fashion? #2. Is it difficult and time consuming to personalize and/or configure to one's needs and wants? #3. Can and will it manage a hard wired network with multiple pc's, one Vista Home Premium and the rest XP Home? #4. Is the main user interface well menued?

Not at all. That's why I started using it because the mainstream AV products pull a healthy machine to it's knees.

Very little at all to do.

    Not in the free version

I would probably give it a 6 out of 10 in that department.

My wife has McAfee on her new computer and I have McAfee on mine. Always found McAfee to be top-notch with nothing getting past it. As for slowing down our computers... not a chance. I made certain that we had very fast computers when I purchased them this past summer. We're happy with McAfee and will stick with it.
