Both what Bobby? From what you said previously you already have Malwarebytes' Free because the Trial Premium will revert to Free 14 days after your download. You don't have to do anything there, it is automatic.
CCleaner Free is available at CCleaner.com, just like the paid version. You just choose the Free version instead of the paid version.

BobbyScot. The clock and date have been on the bottom of the screen on the right hand corner since at least Win 95 that I can remember.

Why not download directly from the manufacturer? Both Malwarebytes' site and CCleaner site are very clean and safe. Bobby already has Malwarebytes' and I gave him the CCleaner Free download link.

I have downloaded both software titles suggested by RL. Is CCleaner as reliable now since being taking over by Avast? I certainly don't like Avast with its sneaked in adverts and continually asking to upgrade to the Premium. Back to CCleaner, other than not using the Registry, is there other boxes best left as unticked?

Avast has owned Piriform, the maker of CCleaner for over two years. I don't use Avast but I do use CCleaner Free I have never once seen any ads for Avast either in the CCleaner program or on web sites for that matter. The only check marks I have in CCleaner are the ones for each browser which say Temporary Internet Cache. Others all are blank.

As I said, in browsers Internet Cache which covers Edge. In Internet Explorer it is called Temporary Internet Files. And as I said earlier "Others all are blank" which means under every other heading there should be No check marks. You are cleaning the Browsers only.

Jl, thanks for help given. I am undecided in what to do with CCleaner, each time that I reinstall or update, causes computer setup to mess up, as now the software pinned to task bar just vanished and required to be pinned back manually.

There really is no reason this should happen because of CCleaner. But I would suggest that you uninstall it and never use it again. Instead use the built in Disk Cleanup.

JL, I certainly will do this. This computer for some reason, dislikes any software of this nature. As to what caused entries in taskbar to be deleted, is a mystery, other than when I saved a program that I clicked the ctrl + S but on this occasion must have been another letter in the vicinity of S.

Likely you clicked ctrl +x which will cut things. Don't know how many you had/have on the taskbar but since x is just below s chances are this may be what you did.

JL, I fully agree in what you said, that I click the X key, not realising it. Being honest, I do at times press the wrong key when using hot keys. Most often used Hot Key being the CTRL+S when working with my weather recording software. For me "be alert at all times" or be sorry.

Have to be honest Bobby, that is the only reason I never, ever use hotkeys. I honestly never liked using them and never found them to be a shortcut to anything but disaster in the end, because times I did use them and if I got into the habit of doing so I would mess up sooner or later. I have found most of the time there are easier ways to do things besides using hotkeys. If I want a program shortcut on the taskbar I can drag the icon to the taskbar or I can just right click the program icon and choose "Pin to Taskbar". If I want to remove it from the Taskbar I right click the icon and choose "Unpin from Taskbar". No typing, no remembering the correct key strokes

JL, I refer back to your Post on Malwarebytes, what is your thoughts on Malwarebytes? As currently it appears, that the free version to me is of little safeguard to computer against malware infection. Is it a case of paying £50 every year (if finances permit) or just leave the very limited version current installed, taking a chance, against being infected. Your view on this will be appreciated.

Bobby, I am sure there are people who will disagree with me but I have never used the paid version of Malwarebytes'. In fact I don't use a paid version of ANY security program and there are three programs I use and all offer free or paid and I use Free.
I have never had a serious infection on my computer and can say I have had none at all in well over 10 years.
    BUT, I NEVER download from questionable sources, I never download videos or games and I never visit questionable web sites AND to be sure of this I also use SpywareBlaster which gives you, as their web site says;
It offers superb protection for virtually all browsers. I have used SpywareBlaster for 17 years and would never run a computer without it installed. It is free, easy to use, just check for updates every couple weeks. If updates are available, take them, then enable all protection, close the program and forget it.

My firm belief has always been, "less is more". The more security programs you have installed and running ALL the time very often slows the computer, makes people less apt to be careful what they are doing and where they are going online. I also make sure my browsers are configured as safe as they can possibly be and keep them all fully up to date.

Bobby, If you will look at my signature, I use and have used it for years what Judy recommends. Have for years. I can't remember the last time that I had an infection of any kind. I used to do a lot more computer help hands on and would always put what I have in my signature on all the computers that I worked on. I make sure that they are updated also and told the users to do it at least once a week. I got very little repeat business by doing so on the computers that I have fixed. It is your choice.

JL and Mr Bill, I have Downloaded your recommended SpyBlaster and installed. I am rather hesitant in the settings as I have no idea which boxes be ticked or not. As you no doubt know if I get it wrong this computer of mine just sends me up the Suwannee River. Any guidance on this, will certainly be appreciated. I notice many boxes ticked related to Web sites that I have never heard of in my life, be ignored. Thanks.

Bobby this is likely the most simple, easy program you have ever used. There is NO chance of user error, NONE. Click for Updates, Download updates if any are found and then all you do is click the listing Enable All Protection, check marks will be place in the correct places automatically. As long as everything says Protection Enabled
That is it, NOTHING else period. Then Close the program.
