an active directory domain controller for the domain could not be contacted

    Hello,
    i installed a windows 2008 standard 64 bit server and i installed domain , but when i am try to Connect my client pc (windows 7 pro 32 bit ) its getting a error (an active directory domain controller for the domain could not be contacted)
    what should i do , any one is there for me to help.

    Presuming that the new server is the domain controller, with the appropriate FSMO roles, the first place to check is the DNS setting for the workstation. The workstation has to have the DC's IP address as it's primary DNS server.

    Yep, looks like a DNS issue. Are your other computers (not Win 7) connecting ?
