i tried the sfc/scannow but after checking, theres nothing happen, it is suppose to be like that? or there should be a dialog box or anything that requires action.

The same thing happened when i run
    expand f:\i386\xpsp1res.dl_ c:\system32\xpsp1res.dll

what about the "Run a DLL as an app" error msg when i clicked on 'add new program' in add remove programs??

Note the space in the SFC command. Have your cd ready.

    When you run
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
you won't see any results. However, after it runs you can go into your event logs and any changes will be noted in an event.

AMLI:ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address (0xcf8) which lies in the 0xcff protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact you system vendor for technical assistance.

I believe the Event ID 5 (ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address) you are seeing is a known issue:

283649 "ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address" error
    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=283649

and can be addressed by updating the BIOS on your motherboard. I doubt updating your BIOS will "fix" the problem with the blank Add/Remove Programs dialog, but it should at least clear up the recurring errors in your event log. Once you have the updated BIOS installed let us know what other Errors and/or Warnings appear in the Event Viewer.

    is this the solution?

i found this at here at
    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm

Add or Remove - White Space

    This is generally due to the DisplayIcon having a negative number. From here you can either remove the negative number or remove the last application listed: Start/Run/Regedit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{}

    is this the solution?

i cant understand but it i checked it n found that my last applications listed in registry does have negative number for DisplayIcon..

should i delete the entry? its yahoo!msgr..

Their advice is rock solid but I think I'd opt to remove the negative number rather than the whole entry as a first try and see if that fixes you up.
