    Update:
Have found that one can delete the fake 'folders' like documents-and-settings without adverse consequencs, one advantage of dual booting.

Have also found that the vaunted new search is very oversold. For example, try to search for sendto, one of the most valuable features since the advent of PCToys. There are at least 3 folders of that name, but search can only find the fake one out of the box, and when that's been deleted, it can't find any, even when I'm looking at it on screen! Now that's clever programming, or at least a new manifestation of MS’ penchant for hiding details from users.

The conveneint ability to do start, run, sendto and have the folder open in explorer has also been removed.

Interesting thread to say the least.

And I was thinking the other day, trying to recall what, if any problems I had when I switched from W98SE to XP. And I realized I didn't have any. My Epson printer worked just fine, the one I have now does not work with Vista, altho, I've not tried it. Essentially relying on what Vista tells me. Same goes for my scanner as well.

I had a Brother 5-1 combo printer\scanner\copier\phone\fax set up that worked fine in W98SE and fine in XP too.

Quickbooks worked ok on XP too. Don't use it now, so can't say if it would work, tho, not likely seeing as it was an older version to begin with.

Front Page for publishing, not supported either on Vista.

But maybe I'll give the printer and scanner a shot to see what happens. Maybe if I upgrade the drivers Vista will work with them.

    Project for another time.

Before I installed Vista I went around to all the web sites associated with my peripherals & software to see if there were updates for Vista. For most of them there were, so I just downloaded them all ready to go. I was actually very surprised at how easy the install was & how smoothly everything worked. May have been a different situation if I'd jumped onto Vista on day one or perhaps if I'd just tried to install everything using the old versions. There was only 1 software package I couldn't run and that didn't really bother me anyway as I don't really need it at home. The company that puts out the software has a history of dragging the chain & putting its head in the sand re the future, so that came as no surprise.

Thought someone might like the path to sendto; startup is right next door. Note the use of Roaming to hide them; who'd guess?
