36 virus/malware/spyware?

    Somehow I picked up some sort of malware despite firewall,antivirus, antispyware, etc.
    What is weird is my computer is now obsessed with 36... hard drive is 36% fragmented no matter how much I defrag, chkdsk freezes at 36% on step 4, and often there are 36 processes running.
    Anyone heard of such a malware and how to remove it? System restore was corrupted and wouldn't complete. I have tried "repair" windows and reinstall SP2 & SP3 to no avail.
    I am running XP Home.
