I have a 2WIRE 2701HG-B Modem/Router and am with AT&T DSL. I have good signal strength as lon as I am in the same room as the modem/router but need to know how to increase the range so that I can have consistentency throughout the house. What do I need to purchase that is compatible with my 2Wire?:)

    How big is your house?

I loaned my connection to neighbours (2 floors up) for a few months and they had no problems connecting. Anyway, any wireless extender will do the job but do you really need one?

I usually find it's the reciever that has problems not the sender. If you have antenna then for best reception vertically position the antenna horizontally and vice versa.

    Wireless

Thanks for responding. I have no problems when they are hardwired but when I walk 25 feet into the next room on wireless, the signal strength and connection diminshes quickly

Login to the modem-router and change the AP Channel to 1 or 11.

Not sure about the 2710HG-B, but on my 2701HG-D under Home Network, Wireless Settings, bottom of page is a power setting for the transceiver. Run mine on four and get 95 - 100 % signal outside the house in my car. Of course have wood frame house.
Also, as TonyT said switch channel to one that is not being used by anyone close to you if possible. Laptop can see 5 networks using channel 1, 4 using channel 6, 2 using channel 8 and one using channel 11. I am only one using channel 4.
