28 March 2002 Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer

I checked the Q319182 patch download page and it says to "Click the Security Update link for your version of Internet Explorer to download." with four file links to the right.

On the chance that you clicked on the wrong link (ALL the downloads are Q319182.exe), I would re-download. If I were you, I would save the file to my hard disk in an empty folderlike C:\Updates or C:\Download or whatever folder name you choose, then close Internet Explorer, disable your antivirus and close all other running programs with a Ctrl/Alt/Delete and 'end task' on each except for Explorer and Systray before installing the update, just to make sure that no other program might be interfering.

 

I downloaded the cumulative update and it messed up my shortcut overlay arrows, returning them to the old arrows. TweakUI can't override it anymore. Is there some registry tweak I can use to get the light overlay arrows back?

 

The Windows Shell patch (March 7th critical update Q313829 for Win98 WinNT and Win2000) was the patch that caused the shortcut arrow problems. Go to the two links in my March 30th post on page one of this thread to see the previous discussions.
