Man these things come out of the box locked up tighter than a drum!

    Scenerio:

    2003 Domain
Clients are joined to the domain. Mostly XP boxes.

First off I couldn't see any of the clients on the network to push Symantec AV 9.0 to.
Solved that problem by turning off the firewalls on the client.

Ok heres the kicker. Domain clients cant see the server on the network.
I can find him by IP address but not by name.

Full blown Domain with DNS running on the server as well as DHCP with the server being pointed to for DNS in the DHCP scope.

Am I missing a security feature somewhere?

use the trace, luke.. use the trace.

start a trace on a freshly booted client, then try to hit the server. Look in the trace for DNS traffic and see whats doin.
