"External" as in ? Is it a USB drive ? Your drive could be corrupt. Try running chkdsk /f on it.

I don't think its Roxio's problem. Log in as Administrator, Uninstall Roxio, reboot & install again. I think that should do it.
Is your query about making VCD or that Roxio can't find the drive ?
Does Roxio detects it when you are logged in as Administrator ?
