Don't use TB, but other e-mail programs have options to send immediatly or send later. Usually in Tools/options. Have you checked there?
If it is the HD failing, it is way cheaper to get a HD and go that way. Depends on the size, you can pick them up on e-bay from about 25 bucks and up.
