If you switch off your other laptop & switch on this laptop, can you connect thru wifi?
Sometimes the program would get uninstalled but would not get removed from Control Panel. Othertimes, its uninstaller may be corrupt or missing....

Try PC Decrapifier. Its always the first thing I run when I get a new computer with pre loaded "goodies" or when I need to remove a lot of junk.
Why don't you upgrade to IE9 ? Why stick with iE8 ?

What tests ?
Try running chkdsk /f on C: for starters.
Download the installer [Post #2] & then install FF 4.0. That should work.
Seems every site is connecting back to Microsoft & MS doesn't seem to be offering this download anymore.
Just google win nt sp6a for sites that still have it.

Press Winkey + R. You should get a run prompt window. Type cmd & press enter.
Have you checked your hardware ? A single flaky switch or lan card or cable can bring the whole network down. Check for viruses/malware...
What's the OS ? In cmd prompt type ipconfig /all > lan.txt & copy the contents of lan.txt here.
Was the printer working before or it didn't work from the very beginning ?
