Try Complete Internet Repair. It resets everything back to default. Run the option "Repair Internet Explorer ".
As Bill said "What is on what partition? ". What is on C drive that you want to open & can't ? Is it a html document ?
Malwarebytes is a solid product, but it cannot search for ALL malwares. Better to take an expert opinion before proceeding further.
Most probably a malware. Post in Malware and Virus Removal section & let the experts have a look.
When did this start ? After you installed Trend Micro ? What happens if you disconnect from the net & then boot ?

If XP is not legit, SP3 would not install, but it won't ask for the key. Did you download SP3 from Microsoft ?
Have you tried playing a DVD movie ? Most of them are mastered in 5.1 Dolby/DTS Systems & your speakers should work.
Try using BurnAware Free instead of Roxio if it can't detect your cd/dvd drive.
Roxio would do fine. You don't need any other program. Run Roxio & follow the prompts to copy the dvd.
But Sven , the question was about copying a dvd with Roxio 9 [not necessarily a movie dvd]. That has still not been cleared.

Is it the OEM version ? OEM version is severly limited but would copy disks as per this forum discussion. You seem to be missing some step.

Can't say for sure unless the system works stable for some time. You should also install all updates AFTER SP3 & if you are using IE6, install IE8.
