Sounds like a hardware failure to me - you could remove the drive and take the case off it and check the open button contacts, but, with the price...

Must say that sounds ominous. You could try running Seatools diagnostics on it - from the list below ...... Disk Diagnostic Software .......
The drive is probably formatted FAT32 which has a 4 Gb file limit - reformat it NTFS and try again :)

The software may be looking at the capacity of the entire drive, including free space - which is rather strange. Using Acronis my 55Gb Windows...
Set up the computer so that it does not automatically restart on system failure ..... Control Panel > System > Advanced > Startup and Recovery...
