Did you try the fix in the post you mentioned?
Boot Order- Control Panel->System icon->Advance Tab->Startup and Recovery Settings button -> pretty easy to figure out from there.
Might look in Control Panel->Mouse and disable the "hide pointer while typing" option to see if that helps.
