How long depends on the size of the drive - amount of files on the drive - cpu speed - etc etc.
Guess it'd be nice to see all of the specs - and how old is it... But, for a typical user - a new Core 2 Duo would probably kick its you know...
Did they mention which verion of the BIOS is the newest and then ask which one you had?
All mobos have a MAX amount of ram;)
It should eventually finish indexing... In Win Explorer -> Right click on C drive->Properties->UNcheck the index box if you'd like it to not...
Look up the specs to the mobo and see what it says.
Note that if tou delete the SentItems.dbx file you will loose all of your sent mail. You might want to move the important ones to another folder...

Vista 64 bit has the same security issue with "This driver is not signed." Pretty sure there are hacks out there which might maybe work for Win7.
Food for thought - fresh XP install - do updates - CLONE the drive.
There are several methods...But using a USB external enclosure would be a good idea. You could use it as a backup device...
