One is the default number for Win7 Pro... Zero is the number for 7 Home... Here's a patch/fix/tweak to change the number to two on 7 pro....

Look through your burning/everything else dvd software for the format option.
I bet it's the fan on the video card... Mine used to make a lot of noise for a while when I first booted up. Blowing the dust out cured the problem.
There are no moving parts so I can't imagine any noise coming from it. My guess would be a fan near by.
You need to take it apart and see if the hard drive and everything else is still plugged in.
I moved your thread from the Malware section to the Win 7 section. A dead hard drive will cause this error.... Did they drop the laptop recently?

Did the pc come with a cd/dvd with drivers on it and or have you been to their web site for drivers?
