Unless MS changed it, I uninstalled IE 11 and it reverted back to IE 10. I had problems on this PC with it making my Gadgets weird looking colors....
The stuff on the left is how I see it as you describe it also. Do you have Clear type on or off? Search box and type in Adjust Clear Type.
Bad stick of RAM comes to mind. Put the original sticks back in. You can add RAM anytime.
Lexmark X5650 printer will work on Win 7 and Win 8. There are drivers for both 32 and 64 bit for it. I do run both 7 and 8 and like them both...
I had what you have and had no problems getting the SP1 for Win 7. Have since dumped XP and have Win 8 upgraded to 8.1 and no problems there either.

Didn't know that Win 8 came with a mail program. I had to download one. WLM is Windows Live Mail from M$. That is what I use.
Try going to the top of WLM and drag it left or right. Then maybe you can shrink it down by catching the side of the window and dragging it...

What are you doing that it lags so much? I have 7 and 8.1 on 2 separate HD on the same PC with 4 gigs of RAM. Don't have any problems with either...
