the "explorer" process is running? if not press CTRL+ALT+DEL and in File put Explorer.exe and hit Ok if the explorer is present, try to close...
try searching for CMD.exe or COMMAND.com also, try toc reate another user and log on that user... cause many malware delete some registry...
