    Not necessarily - the bios can only detect components connected to the motherboard - if the connection has failed then the BIOS will not detect...

    You stopped at Step #3. If the file was skipped and the backup completed successfully I think you can safely assume that the backup is sound....

    Check out the settings under Control Panel > Accessibility - there may be an option there to set a sound each time a key is struck.
