I recently removed Norton and switched to AVG and have been much happier.
You need the Norton Removal Tool to remove all the bad AV stuff that Norton/Symantec leaves in the Registry....
Also if you have Norton/Symantec Anti-Virus the restore function won't work unless the Create point is saved with Norton AV disabled.
