Friend has confirmed that the router is powered up ~30 mins before booting up PC.
I'll get him to try that.
I should add that the same router was used on his XP box - and still is occasionally, with no issues.
AFAIK the router is powered down when the PC is shut down and reboots when the computer boots up. I.e complete system - PC + router is powered...

Assuming that you are streaming the video directly from the internet this sounds like a buffering problem - the data is not being downloaded...

Try GWX Control Panel - works great for me on my Win 7 box which I use for reference in helping others on Win 7 and don't want updated to 10.
The language is no problem - it's the graphics that count here :) I've no idea how the D partition ended up as the first partition on the drive...
Might be helpful if you posted a screen shot of Disk Management.
When a drive is formatted a certain amount of space is taken up by the file system .... My 256GB SSD is shown as 238.47GB in Disk Management...
