    DVD Player won't read DVD+RW

    It has to be finalized, yes. Some DVD players will only read DVD+R or DVD-R disks. I have had the best results with Verbatim DVD+R.

    XP Backup

    Paragon Drive Backup will do what you want. If you have a DVD burner it will even back up to DVDs. http://www.drive-backup.com/
