I forgot to mention I was using Netscpe 7, does that make a difference?
Created a "user.js" and added the line but it didn't work.

I figured it out, in manage bookmarks, the "View" option needs to be set to "unsorted "
From one place to another in the sidebar. The horizontal line moves while I'm dragging the bookmark but when I release the mouse, nothing has changed
Dragging bookmarks around doesn't seem to move them.
I started using Mozilla and it would occasionally crash. I posted a request to the bugzilla group and they suggested installing the lastest driver.
Upgrading to the latest Nvidia driver fixed this problem.
