reset system folders

I changed the location for downloads and the downloads folder and the desktop folder became entwined. This is nothing new as the very same thing happened to me in windows 7. When I have posted for help in the past it seems to be a mystery to other members. I just attempted to return to the original folder settings and nothing is working. I want downloads to be downloads and desktop to be desktop. I want both folder visible in the library. I don't understand what the issue is. Anyone want to take a shot at it?

 

I guess it is. I tried a windows repair but the options did not look right so I stopped. As I look at various folder properties and searches one path will say desktop while another path will say downloads. Previously I had used windows 10 upgrade. Now I have a fresh build of windows 10. I have tried the method of moving the file in the folder but to no avail. Sorry for any duplications.

 

The settings did nothing to correct the mixup. Downloads and desktop were the same and chrome accepted no changes. After finding nothing on the Internet or in forums I stumbled onto a set of reg file Downloads that appear to have reset the folders to their original settings. Thanks for your time.

 

I would be interested in these "reg files" please post a link to them if it is available.
