Resolved [Blue Screen "unexpected kernel mode trap"]

    I keep getting a blue screen on my desktop PC Windows 10 with the explaination "unexpected kernel mode trap" Can anyone suggest the cause/cure please?

    Hi rutland. I would start by look through this link, How Can I Fix the UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP Windows 8 Error?

    Have you installed any new device drivers lately? Did you make any recent changes to your computer before this problem occurred? Are you overclocking any components?

    Thanks. Sorry I have not replied before but I was unaware of your reply.

    Nothing to my knowledge in the way of new software. I spoke to Microsoft at one stage and they suggested it was due to a registry cleaner I had used. I am waiting for the new Fall update in the hope that this might correct things!

    Better to fix it now as any errors in the OS will migrate with the Update. (this has been a problem with W10 Upgrades as users have thought that the upgrade would cure their problems.)
    I would run sfc /scannow to see if your Registry cleaner has produced your problem.
    Right click Start > Command Prompt (Admin) > sfc /scannow > Enter key.
    Then wait for results. Neil.

    After installing the Fall update, the problem seems to have gone!!!!!!!
