    [Inactive] iStartsurf Uninstall Problem

I am running Windows 8.1, automatic update.

I picked-up this malware while downloading SpywareBlaster today. I have gotten rid of everything Associated with it, but in Control Panel/Programs and Features/Uninstall or change, I can't get the uninstall to complete. When I select the iStartsurf Uninstall program and hit uninstall, its own uninstall window comes on screen with a scrambled Word to type into a box. When this is done and the start button hit the uninstall proceeds to the end of the line than just stops and doesn't complete. It just sits there and never uninstalls. Any idea as to how to get rid of this. TIA

    Thanks for the offer Broni,

I read all the instructions, as directed before writing the origional post, but to be honest it was just too much to take in and I can't afford to have this removed professionally right now.

As it's not causing any problems, just sitting there in the list, I'll let it just sit. Thanks again for the offer.

I thought it might be helpful if I mentioned how I got and got rid of this iStartsurf program. As it was not catagorized as malicious, it wasn't stopped by my Malware program or Win 8.1 anti-virus yet couldn't be removed by the Remove program in Control Panel or direct deleting.

I found the program, in a separate folder sitting at the bottom of the C:/Program Files (x86) list. It could not be deleted so, after printing it out, and copying one file to a Temp. file, I booted in Safe Mode and deleted the folder and its contents that way. After rebooting in normal mode I went back to Control Panel, Remove Programs and had to run the delete program twice to get the iStartsurf program removed. They used a clever ruse of two distorted Words you must type in a box to get the program to run. The first time one Word must be used and then the second time another Word appears which must be used. Finally, it disappeared.

I might mention that I picked-up the program while downloading Spyware Blaster by choosing a download sight that promised "No distracting ads running during the download ". Oh well, live and learn. Thanks for you help,

    Dennis
