Replying to an e-mail I highlighted a sentence and was moving it to a different location in the reply. After releasing it in it's new location in the reply, there was a shadow of the sentence on the screen. I cannot delete it move it or highlight it. When I do anything in any program even Internet Explorer now the shadow sentence is there. Shut down, restarted, shut down ,let it sit awhile restarted, it's still on the screen nothing covers it. It's always on top even on the desktop. How can I get rid of the shadow sentence? Thanks, Jack

Hi Jack57, Have you tried another screen? What is your setup? Are you using an All in One, Desktop and Monitor or Laptop? Is your Monitor LCD or CRT?
We need more info to work with - as you said - It's a strange one. Neil.

Win 8.1 64 bit HP desktop, not that it matters now. Turned computer on this morning and it's gone. Gremlins I suppose. Thanks, Jack

It may not matter, but I sure would make sure Windows and my anti-malware solution were current and scan the heck out of it. Then scan it again with Malwarebytes's Anti-Malware (MBAM) just to be sure.

Since this is a desktop, note that shutting down the computer does not fully shut it down. If the power supply is still plugged into the wall (and - if equipped - the master power switch on the back of the PSU is set to on), there is still +5Vsb standby voltage at several points across the motherboard keeping many circuits and settings alive.

So if it happens again, shutdown and unplug the PSU (or flip the switch) for 5 - 10 seconds, then start it up again and see what happens.
