I used Bing as my default search engine with XP & it worked real well BUT...
with Win 7, I'm having some problems using it. I'm getting messages tha say it isn't compatible with IE & with FireFox, it sends me to web sites that I didn't ask for(most of them are red on WSOP).
So I would like to know which engine is safest & best over all to use.
    Thanks

Hi DPI Graphics. I've used Google as my primary search engine for many years and have found that it works great for my needs.

Arie, I agree with you but, I can't figure out what I'm doing with Win 7. I never had these problems with Bing in XP, & I don't see anything that looks suspicious. I'll be happy to go thru the steps to clean it up & maybe we can find out what I am doing.

I have stayed away from Google because I have been told that it does a lot of spying on you. Is that true?

All the search engines can keep track of what search items you are looking through- Its not just Google.

Anytime you are using social media such as FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, etc you are giving up some of your privacy anyway and allowing other people to see your status updates or your various activity.

If you really care about your privacy then take a look at this article for more reading, Here’s how to stop the gov’t, NSA, FBI, and everyone else from spying on you.

I was thinking more along the lines of adware etc. But I guess they all do it so 1 is just as bad as the other.
    Thanks.

If you are concerned with privacy use the WhiteHat Aviator browser. The home page is DuckDuckGO Search (Disconnect). You can also select Google, Bing or Yahoo (Disconnect) to search.

Let me add StartPage to the list as well. It uses Google search results, but Google can not track you as long as you disable 3rd party cookies.

Whiskeyman, I don't quite understand the content section of Disconnect. It always stays gray in color. Is that a default setting, and / or should it be changed to green?

    Great find by the way.

Tip: Since everyone is not exactly the same and like a lot of different things, which one of something that might be "best" for you will not be the "best" for everyone else on the planet.

IO agree with you & for me bing worked best until I started using Win 7 & it started returning pages that I didn't want, so I thought I would ask what others liked.

That's fine. As long as you realize that what might work great for others may not suit you at all.

For example, if I were to ask "What car do you like? ", someone that owns an Isetta would be exclaiming how "perfect" it is. (Gag me, with a shovel! ;))
