    Hi,
I want to put my 4 computers on a network (home)
    ROUTER: D-LINK DIR-655 (Wireless)
    CONNECTION "high speed" cable

NB: I have very little knowledge in networking

    4 Computers total:
    2 Desktops:
    1) Dell Dimension E520
    Windows XP Home SP_3 up-to-date
    Firefox 14.0.1 (up-to-date), Avast! 8.0.1 (up-to-date)
    WIRED connection.
Connected (USB) to an Epson Workforce 545 printer

    2) Dell Optiplex 780 (SSF)
    Windows XP PRO SP_3 Up-to-date
    SeaMonkey version 2.20 (up-to-date); Avast! 7.0.1 (up-to-date)
    WIRED connection
Connected (USB) to an Epson Workforce 2540 (Not working)

    2 Laptops (Both are lemons)
    3) Dell Vostra
    Windows XP Pro SP_3 up-to-date
    Firefox 23.01 (up-to-date); Avast! 7.0.1 (up-to-date)
    WIRELESS
Connected (wireless) to an Epson Workforce 545 printer

    4) ACER Aspire
    Windows 7 up-to-date;
    Firefox 22.0 (up-to-date); Avast! 7.0.1 (up-to-date)
    WIRELESS
Connected (Wireless) to an Epson Workforce 2540 (Not working)

    I want to network them.
    Problems:
    Different OSs,
    Wireless and Wired.

Objective: want to share some files and the Epson Workforce 545 (and omit the Epson workforce 2540)

    Please Advise
Please note I am extremely *network knowledge* challenged.

    Thank you in advance!
(Let me know if you need more info)

Thank you for replying and for the link TonyT

(FWIW, The wireless for the Dell vostra keeps disconnecting itself)
I will read the link and post back.
    Thanks
    Tanya

    Hi,
Update - This is not resolved. I am not even sure which to try to start with: The wired (although the E520 seems to have a dying PSU) or the wireless which would be less to lose...

    Thanks for your patience!
