auto start

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 computer. It seems to work fine for a while, but after a few days it wants to shut down and restart, several times and then it shuts down for days. In the middle of the night it will try to start up, the fan starts to whirl but that is about it and then shuts off. Is this a power supply problem or something else?

 

It cannot even update without shutting off

 

Knowing what Version of Windows may help. Guessing that it is probably XP unless it has been upgraded.
Could be a PS problem, but I would think that it wouldn't last for a few days.
Could be a Virus or Spyware/Malware. Can't update makes me think that this could be the problem.
Could also be full of dust bunnies inside and getting hot and shutting down.

You should go to the Malware section and read the first post/Sticky and post what is asked. Broni is very good at what he does in there.

 

As MrBill has suggested Malware possibility, it helps us to help you if you take the time to fill in your System Details.
You could be running Vista/W7/W8 or even XP.
Make sure after entering your specs, that you scroll to the bottom of the page and Save before you exit. Neil.
