At the end of February Microsoft released Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7.

Some new features include support for hardware acceleration using Direct2D and DirectWrite and a "Do Not Track" feature intended to reduce the ability of companies to track user behavior online (enabled by default).

Also included is a spell check with auto-correct. Benchmarks suggests Internet Explorer 10 is some 30-40% faster than Internet Explorer 9.

You can download Internet Explorer 10 here

I too downloaded new issue of IE10. Installing IE10 displayed that it was not compatible with my Windows 7 32/64 bit installed.

I had no problems. I have both 32 and 64 bit. Works fine on both of the machines.

You have to match the download to your version of Windows. There isn't a 32/64 version. It's one or the other.

I couldn't get IE10 to display images on my 64-bit Win 7 Pro SP1 system, and went back to IE9. See this thread for the particulars.

I am having no problems running IE10 on my Windows 7 64-bit system. Have already installed it on a few computers for clients, and webpages seem to load significantly quicker than before. I also like the built in spell checker.

I noticed on my first attempt to download and install IE10, that file showed as Windows6.IE 10. A second attempt download is shown as Windows7.IIE.10, this new version has installed correctly and working properly. Install chooses the 32 -64 bit automatically to suit previous version of Windows 7 IE 9.

Where did you get it? The MS download site still shows three versions: IE10-Windows6.1-x64-en-us.exe, IE10-Windows6.1-x86-en-us.exe, and the Windows Server 2008 version, which is the same as the x64 version.

Since Windows 7.1 doesn't exist yet, I highly doubt this is correct.

As Jim stated, the download is either:

    • IE10-Windows6.1-x86-xx-xx.exe
    • IE10-Windows6.1-x64-xx-xx.exe

where xx-xx is the language code.

My final download and install of IE10 was initiated by Windows 7 Update.
Microsoft web site, displayed as Windows6IE10 that caused the trouble to me installing. That was my experience in updating IE10. Why the reference Windows6?

Windows 7's version number is Windows 6.1. Windows 8's is version 6.2. See here.

Because they are dumb? I left them a note about that nearly a week ago... they don't care.

As you can see from the download site, you can only choose Windows 7 or Server 2008 R2 versions.

Nope, not really. You can't download IE10 for Windows 8. It is included with that OS.
