A pop-up has appeared when I click on a hyper-link in Outlook mail. It says: "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." I am the only user on this computer.

I must have changed something. However, I do not know how to undo it. Thank you.

Have you other issues with this computer, and how long since you had it checked for Malware/Spyware?

What computer cleaning software are you running daily, weekly etc?

    kind regards,

Everything is fine with the computer. I believe it is due to a setting, not an invasion. I use Norton Internet Security and its powerful security everyday.

Are you kidding? This is absolutely no help and in fact is sophomoric and ineffectual. Please re-read my original question. Then, do not offer me a reply, only to increase your posting numbers. Thank you.

    Best regards,
    Gary S. Norton

No, I'm not kidding, it is exactly the same problem you posted back in 2011, so why won't the solution offered at that time still be valid?

    Please enlighten me.

    Yes, you are correct.

My last comment was directed to the first person who replied to my question, NOT you.

It is a problem caused by an inadvertent Goggle Chrome installation, which was when I updated a Java file. Even though I deleted Chrome, there were remnants left behind which caused the problem. All is now well. Thank you.

    Best regards,
    Gary S. Norton

I didn't notice you posted at the same time as me, so I thought it was a direct reply to my suggestion :D

    Glad you got it solved.

Wow! Talk about biting the "Good Samaritan" hand that is trying to save you! :(

Please understand you left us guessing - by not providing any information about the browser (or in this case, browsers) you were using, did not confirm this system was the one listed in your system specs, did not tell us about anything you did to attempt to resolve the problem up to that point except to scan for malware (and that was only after asked), did not tell us when the problem started, then launched a tirade of personal insults against a sincere volunteer who sacrificed their own personal time in an honest attempt researching and posting here to help you with your problem. :(

The fact of the matter is, you caused this problem yourself by not paying attention while installing java updates, allowing other stuff to be installed at the same time. I am glad you got it sorted out, and I honestly appreciate you posting the solution so others may benefit from YOUR mistake. But lashing out at volunteer members who are only trying to help? Not cool.

It is understandable you want your problems fixed NOW. We all do! But it was not tallin being sophomoric or deserving of such disrespect.

And for the record, forum helpers who have been members for 4 years have no interest in running up their post count.

Now my apologies to Arie and WindowsBBS for stepping over the line here as I have no moderator responsibilities or authority on this site. And in the interest of full disclosure, I've known tallin for many years as a friend, and trusted technical advisor who unselfishly gives up precious free time to help folks like you, Gary.

While I may have no business lashing out at you, tallin did not deserve the lashing you gave, and IMHO, is owed an apology.
