Suddenly, this popped up: "X This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator" Its title is "Microsoft Outlook" and this time it occurred when saving from Outlook to a file in my User directory. It also occurred during other Win7 operations.

I am the only user of this PC. Where do I start to solve this?

This is an ‘old chestnut’ that continually crops up, I think it started with Win98 or certainly WinXP. In Windows 7 go to Control Panel > Default Programs > Set your default programs > Click Custom, select Internet Explorer and click Set this program as default.

If that doesn’t work read this particularly the registry key changes.

Let's see: Burr Walnut, Old Chestnut, and Chippendale, an interesting collection.

Thank you for the excellent help. I finished the instructions and will have to wait.
