I seem to have aquired a 'ghost' XP OS.
I have just completed formatting all my hard disks, and re-installing Xp, together with all updates.
Despite the formatting, I still have a choice of 2 XP Home systems.
Reading some old threads has inspired me. and I want to try following the 'msconfig' , 'BOOT.INI' path to begin with.
I am however confused that when I get into the boot systems, how do I know which is the one that works and which is the one that doesn't work ?
It appears that at some point I will be presented with a list of installed OS's. Which one do I delete ?
    Any help gratefully received.

Hi Old Tone. Post the contents of the boot.ini file in this thread so we can see which Windows XP entry we can remove.

You have just one Windows XP installation thats on the primary partition correct?

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

Note: A common error is to forget to show your System Details in your profile:

Make sure to do the above when entering your System Details, thanks.

Its done. What a teriffic website !

    Hi Evan Omo,

I have fired the old girl up and followed the "msconfig" direction from another thread and bingo, the problem has been resolved.
The PC actually told me which OS to remove. (Saved taxing my old brain too much).
I have however put my system details on the website to make it easier in future.
Many , many thanks for your help.
