Startup Anomaly

    Gateway 500X PC; WIN XP SP3;

    Recently started getting the following alert on startup: ' c:\winnt\system 32... these files are hidden.... you should not modify its contents'... any thoughts on why the PC thinks I tried to open this folder? tx

    Sounds like some app/bug/virus is trying to write to the folder???

    Tx for quick responses... tried 'cleaning' malware & viruses... no joy... Tony T recommendations don't reflect alert windows... tx
