    Hi all,

A friend has an audio CD and he needs just the last 10 minutes of a 40 minute CD.

I did this once before about 10 years ago and I forgot how to do it. I've tried using Windows Movie Maker, splitting it and saving; dragging the "Trim" handle, etc.

However, there's no sound for the first 30 minutes and only the last 10 minutes plays.

How do I get just the last 10 minutes of the CD with no "dead air" at the beginning?

    Hi Mitch,

I've used Audacity before, but it saves as a ".aup" file, unless I get a plugin from somewhere else to save it as something else. Unfortunately the only thing that will play a .aup file is Audacity. This is a court transcript and only the last 10 minutes are needed.

    Anything (or anyone) else?

Audacity exports as an MP3. You just need the Lame file that goes with it. I use it quite a bit to edit MP3 and lectures I download. Its a powerful tool.

    Hi Mitch,

Thank you! I missed that part in all the instructions I've read. I downloaded the "Lame" program, installed it, trimmed the part I wanted to keep, and with the "Lame" file, I can now export it as a .wav, or mp3 and just the stuff I want is there!!!

    Which makes me :) !

    Thanks, again, Mitch.

You're welcome. Glad you were able to get what you needed.
