    Hi all,

Typing away on an Acer netbook. This is a coworkers who asked me to look at. When I got it, it was sjowing all the signs of virii. The Windows Updae service wasn't running, and all the device drivers for all the NICs were gone.

Well, in short I got that fixed and have internet access now. However, a great many services stillare "not" running, even though they say they are. I have run MalwareBytes and Kaspersky and found NOTHING. Clean as a whistle, this thing. I've even run a CHKDSK and SFC scan. No issues.

And yet, it's slow, Windows Update won't run (tells me the service is not started even though the services list says it is), the battery won't charge past 34% (supposedly), and in general it's just acting weird.

I've run CCleaner. I've found NO virii. And it IS working. Just questionably. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi WorldBuilder. Even though you said the computer is clean, its clear that there are still issues that were caused by malware infections.

Please read this and post a new thread in the Malware and Virus Removal Forum.

Once the computer has been declared clean, post back in this thread and we will go from there.

Since the computer has now been declared clean from your thread in the Malware and Virus Removal Forum, we can continue with troubleshooting the Windows Update issue.

If you are still having issues with Windows Update not running properly then I would start here, How to reset Windows Update components.

How is the computer doing at this point?

Ya know? Like I said, the PC is actually working. WU is working, SP1 is now installed, and life is good. Thanks!

So is this issue resolved then?
