Hi adalgisopiazza1, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Adding to what SpywareDr said, has this problem been happening every time you start the labtop? How long has the screen flicker been going on for?

By the looks of the screenshot it looks like the flicker is caused by graphics corruption with the graphics card. But we need more information before we can go through the process of finding a solution.

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

Note: A common error is to forget to show your System Details in your profile:

Make sure to do the above when entering your System Details, thanks.

Thanks. Yes, every time I open my laptop, then right after a few seconds, it will start to flicker and it will go on and on and on until you shut it off. The sample image isn't mine though, I just saw it on the net and paste it here just to have an idea on what am I getting. Thanks for the tip.

My guess is chip creep (continuous heating/cooling causes contacts to break free (ie closed circuit)). I could be wrong but my first step would be to remove the RAM and clean the contacts (a pencil eraser in line with the contacts, not across would do). If that doesn't work then take it into a repair shop.

That's my advice, others may have better suggestions.

Looks like a graphics card problem to me, these laptops are known for it.

Thanks. So shall I replace the graphics card? What about the inverter, should I consider that a problem too?

Since the video hardware in a laptop is usually part of the motherboard, you'd have to replace the motherboard. And then possibly the LCD, and/or the inverter and/or the backlight, and no telling what else. And then when you're finally all done, you still have an old, aging laptop.

Personally, I'd simply replace the whole laptop. :)

That makes a lot of sense. I'm already considering that, haha! Thanks!

Just replacing the motherboard would be 90% IMNSHO.

Been there, done that & got the T-shirt.

For around $150 my 2007 Dell got a life extension...

Hello guys! Just in case you're wondering, I just bought an AOC widescreen monitor for my laptop and it works just fine. That's all I can get for now. But I'll still buy a new laptop soon! :)
