I just installed Nero StartSmart Essentials and discovered the program changed the icons for all my MP3's, video's, pictures etc...

Can someone tell me how to change the icons for the pictures back to the default Windows XP..

I included a pic of the icons Nero has replaced.. the icons in the picture are the ones Nero uses... I'd like to get the default XP icons back...

    Any help would be appreciated..

Hi Alpha and Omega. You need to change the file associations of those file types back to the default associations that Windows uses to open those files. Currently Nero is being used to open those file types. To restore the default Windows file assoications in Windows XP take a look here, How to change or select which program starts when you double-click a file in Windows XP .

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

Note: A common error is to forget to show your System Details in your profile:

Make sure to do the above when entering your System Details, thanks.

Evan Omo, I tried what you suggested before I posted my message and it did not work... Then after I posted I tried deleting the IconCache.db file from my profile directory, and that solved the problem.. I had completely forgotten about trying that until after I posted... I thought of it about an hour later...

And just as a side note, the reason my "System Details" are not posted here, is because I use various systems and operating systems when online, I'd constantly be changing the details... For example, the systems in my livingroom are totally different then the systems in my den, office, kitchen etc...

Ah ok then. Well I am glad that you were able to resolve your problem.

Thanks for letting me know about your System Details. Normally most users only have one or two computers so I have them enter their details and there isn't an issue. But since you use various systems then obviously there isn't much point in filling out your system specs.
