Hi everyone. For those members running Windows Vista or Windows 7 use this thread to post and share your Windows Experience Index score.

For those users who don't know what the Windows Experience Index is then take a look here, What is the Windows Experience Index.

I wanted to create this thread to encourage some friendly discussion about the components that are in your systems and what Windows rates them.

I'll start by posting my score.

Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
    Processor: 7.3
    Memory (RAM): 7.3
    Graphics: 3.8
    Gaming Graphics: 5.8
    Primary hard disk: 5.9
    Overall score: 3.8

So whats your Windows Experience Index (WEI) score?

LOL, my index is now 1.0!
My mb recently fried so I slapped together a multi-boot system out of spare parts.

I never considered the Windows Experience rating all that important. This current system operates faster than my previous system which had better hardware, albeit I have no Aero on this one.

I've never paid much attention to it either Tony, it has however drawn my attention to some much needed housekeeping on my primary partition :D

I hadn't seen that before, but I just configured a Dell XPS 15z, and noticed that it lists:

    Processor: 6.9
    Memory (RAM): 7.3
    Graphics: 4.7
    Gaming Graphics: 6.6
    Primary hard disk: 5.9
    Base score: 4.7

I figure it is because this laptop has 2 graphic modes... the standard is used to conserve energy (battery) and is the CPU graphics (Intel HD Graphics 3000), while the gaming test will use the NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M.

Those scores don't really mean much. They're mainly just a benchmark that you can use to determine how good your hardware specs are. You can use that information to help you figure out how well your system will perform when playing games or watching videos on it and you can compare your score with other computers.

If you have a higher WEI then the computer will be able to handle more intense tasks such as gaming or video editing. However if you have a lower score then the machine would be more suited for more basic tasks such as web browsing or word processing.

I personally see the WEI as a kind of guideline for people when they buy a computer. If it has a high WEI such as the processor and RAM are a 7.0 out of 7.9 for example, then people would be more tempted to buy that machine. But you should always look at the hardware specs of the computer before making a purchase since you should know what you are getting.

Yep they are a rough guideline & on top of that are synthetic.

But the best thing about these is that the overall score is the minimum score of any component. So if any computer has a very high end CPU but trashy graphic card, the overall score would be limited by the graphic card. So if someone needs to improve his/her PC, they know where to start. Beyond that I don't see any purpose of this WEI.

Spot on rsinfo, have a look at my score, Base Score 5.1 CPU 7.3, Ram 7.5, but a crappy graphics card puts the score down.
I'll put it on the Christmas wish list, :D:D, wishful thinking I think.
