After boot into Windows 7 Ultimate 64--I click on any icon on the desktop and it initializes the "user folder" on the desktop. The folder containing "my documents" "downloads" "my music" "my videos" etc.

Usually I need to wait several minutes before I can click on a folder or icon and I can open. Sometimes I need to start the task manager and close explorer.exe and then restart it. Then I can access everything normally.

I thought I had a trojan or a virus (running avira real time enabled, super anti-spyware and comodo firewall), I ran avira (the installed and the rescue disk version), malwarebytes, super antispyware and it came up clean.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Let's continue with the suspected malware for the time being (if nothing else your logs may provide additional information).

Have our malware expert have a look...

Please follow these instructions as best you can and post in the Malware and Virus Removal forum.

I'd like to reactivate this inquiry. No infection issue was discovered with efforts of Malware and Virus Removal.

Thanks. I disabled all non MS shell extensions and rebooted. No change. I need to start task manager and start another instance of explorer.exe to have normal access to desktop folder and program icons.

I've done the system file check...integrity of all system files check out....no restore points before the behavior.....

I do have an drive backup image from late June...I am going to save recent files and restore that image backup.

I was very curious to find out what was causing this. Surprised that system was clean of malware/viruses...

    Thanks.
